Life threatening situation? Always call 112

How does the GP medical station work?

Only for emergency

The GP Medical Station is only there for acute health complaints outside office hours. We are open in the evening and night (17.00-8.00), on weekends and on public holidays (24 hours). You call the medical station for urgent health complaints that really can’t wait until your own GP practice is open again.
Is your complaint not urgent? Then you can visit your own GP the next working day.
Are you unsure whether your complaint is urgent? Go to the homepage and fill in the questions. This way you can determine within 1 minute whether you need to go to the doctor. You can also find reliable information about illness and health on www.thuisarts.nl . Are you still hesitating after that? Then call the Gorinchem GP Emergency Station for consultation. Our telephone number is 0183 – 64 64 10.

Call in advance

There is a short questionnaire on our website. Fill it in first. Then you will immediately receive advice on whether you should contact the medical station. You can’t just walk into the GP Emergency Station Gorinchem. You always have to call first. Then you will get the help you need the fastest.

If you call the number of the Gorinchem GP Post, you will hear a short menu. In a potentially life-threatening situation, choose 1. We will help you as a priority.
Are your symptoms worsening or changing? Then contact the GP medical station again.

Have details handy when you call

Are you calling the GP Emergency Station Gorinchem? Then make sure you have the following information at hand:

  • Your BSN number (citizen service number). This is stated on your identity document (passport, identity card or driver’s license) and has 9 digits.
  • The name of your doctor.
  • Your medication use.

Are you calling for someone else?

Are you not calling for yourself? Then provide all the details of the person you are calling for. Also make sure you are close to the patient when you call. You can then describe the symptoms as well as possible. Sometimes the triage nurse also wants to ask the patient a few questions himself.

What can you expect?

If you call the GP Emergency Station Gorinchem, you will get a triage nurse on the phone. This is an employee who is specially trained to quickly determine how serious your symptoms are and what is needed. This is always done in consultation with the general practitioner on duty at the medical station. There are three possibilities:

  • You will receive advice by telephone. The triage nurse will explain self-care advice over the phone. This has been checked by the GP.
  • The triage nurse makes an appointment at the GP Emergency Station Gorinchem. There, a general practitioner or nurse will examine you.
  • The GP will visit you at home. A home visit only happens if you cannot come to the GP emergency station yourself for medical reasons.
